Successful summits 2012 & 2013
In July 2012 I successfully reached the summit Mount Kilimanjaro, as a personal achievement and fundraising project for Crumlin Children’s hospital.
The climb was organised with the Irish non-profit organisation Kilimanjaro Achievers, founded by the late Ian McKeever. The climb was consisted of students from schools in County Wicklow. During our time in Tanazania, we spent 9 days climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, then a day visiting a Masaii tribe, and the clinic run by a local Doctor who cared for us during the climb. Money was raised by the climb to fund his clinic and services which he uses to help the poorest people in the city of Arusha.
By participating in this climb I helped to raise over €1000 for the Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine department, run by Dr. Padraig Sheeran.
In July 2013, I reached the summit Mount Kilimanjaro for a second time within a year. I chose to return to Tanzania, and undertake the climb again as a fundraiser for Focus Ireland, and a local clinic in the town of Arusha. This climb was also in memorial of my mentor and friend, Ian McKeever, who sadly passed away in January 2013 while climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. Ian was an inspiration to me, and lessons I learnt from him have had such a positive influence in my life through to today.
By participating in this climb I helped to raise over €1000 for the Focus Ireland, and for the local clinic. I am very proud of being able to be a part of this event, and organisation for a second time, and hope to help again in the future
